Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about admission, medical detox, privacy, family support and what happens during abstinence at Malvern Private Hospital.

Admission, costs & practical arrangements

Does Malvern Private work with private health insurance for alcohol rehab?
Yes. Malvern Private is a fully accredited private hospital with agreements with all private health funds. Your out-of-pocket cost depends on your cover, and the admissions team can provide an estimate of excesses and other fees before admission. Our goal is to ensure you are fully informed.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to be admitted?
No GP referral is required to begin the process. Enquiries can start by self-referral, a family member or friend, a GP, psychologist, counsellor or another clinician. A screening assessment is then completed to learn about you and decide if this program is for you.
Can Malvern Private provide reports for legal or court purposes?
Yes. Malvern Private can provide documents such as admission letters and MDT discharge summaries where appropriate for legal or court-related matters.
How do I protect my job and finances while I attend rehab?
Concerns about work and finances are common. Malvern advises that many workplaces allow health-related leave, and the team can help patients think through practical planning around their admission. Your individual employment arrangements should be confirmed with your employer or adviser.
